The idea about colour healing is centuries old and dates back from ancient Egypt and Hinduism.
Colour healing or chromotherapy is a powerful alternative therapy. The colours we see around us, the colour choices we make when deciding what to wear are significant and influence us in different ways.
All colours tell a story. This story is the fabric of our life – it changes with it. When we interact with a person, our aura colour changes. Our moods and feelings matter in terms of colour as well. These colours are in constant movement, even when we rest.
The Reasons why we like certain coloursAt a physical level: A person generally likes a given colour because it matches their skin tone.
At a psychological level: An individual’s taste or distaste for a certain colour can change with their mood. These mood changes are often situation-based, for example:
According to the event: People prefer to wear vibrant colours while on outings.
According to age: Teenagers and children have a passion for pink. With advancing age the interest in this colour fades away.
According to the event and culture: In some cultures people wear black at funerals, while in others, people dress in white.
When the colour stands for something:
- The colour and style of clothing worn by a celebrity can influence their fans.
- It is in fashion
- People may dislike a colour by its association.
At a spiritual level: The reason we like a certain colour is because it is closer to our basic nature.
A person under the control of negative energies usually feels good vibrations even when wearing black. If the distress persists, the person slowly begins to lose their identity.
Wearing black affects people in the immediate vicinity, too.
If an individual was harmed by a person who was wearing, say, blue clothes in a previous birth, the individual will most likely have an aversion to blue in the next birth.
General spiritual perspective while choosing colours for clothesColour of clothes should not be gaudy
Clothes with a plain, single spiritual colour, without any print or design are indicative of transparency and spirituality.
Colours of clothes should be complementary to each other: If a top and a bottom with different colours are to be worn, then the colours should complement each other; e.g.: pale blue and dark blue; white and pale purple
In the two colours of clothes there shouldn’t be too much of a contrast, because they generate negative vibrations.
At many formal functions we see people wearing a black and white combination such as a tuxedo. Society regards this kind of formal wear as the epitome of elegance and social grace. At a spiritual level, though, the story is very different. Black and white actually fight each other.
Negative and positive energy
The two types of energies we possess are negative and positive energy. Positive energy will make us feel happy, energized, full of life, healthy; while negative energy on the other hand makes us feel tired, unhappy, sad, depressed. We either create our own positive or negative energy by the way we think and speak; or we can receive it from an outside source by touching anything like a person, an object, an animal, a plant. Food also has its level of positive and negative vibration energy.
Every time you are in the presence of people, there is energy transfer between all of you. If the predominant energy is positive you feel energized, but if the predominant energy is negative you deplete your positive energy and this makes feel you drained or exhausted.
Negative or positive energy vibrations can also be transferred through objects; e.g. if a negative person uses a ruler constantly, the ruler will receive some of their negative energy.
After a long period of time this ruler will be saturated with negative energy. If for some reason you start using this ruler, the negative energy will be transferred to your body every time you pick it up, making you feel tired after using it.
Meditation is a technique to let negative energy go from the body. Scientists claim that stress can be the cause of illness – diabetes, high BP, stomach problems etc. Stress is a kind of negative energy created in society – at work, in the family; in social stereotypes.
Dealing with negative people
When you pay attention to somebody else, you give them energy. Whatever you focus on snowballs and energy vampires steal your thoughts – decreasing your energy levels.
Place yourself in situations that boost your own energy. Does this person make you feel good or do you make that person feel good? Remember that you deserve to be happy. You and you alone are the author of your energetic state.
Once you hold yourself accountable and responsible for the way you choose to respond to something, you connect with yourself on a deeper level. When you are connect on a deeper level, you don’t get thrown off your centre easily. You maintain your mental composure and self-respect.
Meditate, relax and breathe; commune with nature. Breathing increases the blood flow circulation in your body and helps prevent absorb energy from those around you. Walk with confidence, keep your head high and don’t allow anyone to make you feel inferior.
Your body, mind and your environment is your temple. Be careful, who are you inviting in? It is great to be generous but there is a fine line so in not being trampled on. Learn to say “no” and to be ok with that.
Not everyone is going to like you. Everyone on earth is here for a different reason. By loving yourself first, you will create a force field around other peoples’ opinion that will protect you from being so drained by hearing them.
Also remember, you can’t change everyone - don’t make it your mission. Sometimes, the best thing you can do is just not to feed the energy that they are projecting at you.
